Next one off the wall: a framed Eric Dickerson Rams jersey, and one of my favorite pieces in the house.
The piece
It's the classic white Rams throwback with the blue-and-gold horns on the shoulders, DICKERSON across the back and a big #29. He signed it in silver right across the 2 and added two inscriptions: "HOF 99" for his Hall of Fame class, and "13,259 yds" for his career rushing total. The frame also holds a Dickerson card in each bottom corner and the signed certificate in the middle.
Why it matters
Dickerson came out of SMU and took over the NFL the second he got to Los Angeles. He was the 1983 Offensive Rookie of the Year, and in 1984 he ran for 2,105 yards, a single-season record that still stands more than 40 years later. He finished with 13,259 rushing yards, made six Pro Bowls, and went into Canton in 1999. Those goggles and that upright running style made him one of the most recognizable players of the '80s.
Authentication
The certificate comes from SportsIntegrity.com and is signed by both Eric Dickerson and Joe Coppola, with a matching hologram on the jersey at the bottom of the 2.
Photos are my own, cleaned up for the site.
