Something a little different from the binder: a framed, signed Dallas Cowboys jersey from Daryl "Moose" Johnston, the fullback who cleared the way for Emmitt Smith.
The piece
It's a white Cowboys #48 with JOHNSTON across the shoulders, signed in silver paint pen right across the big 8: "Daryl Johnston," "Moose" and 48. It's framed with a nameplate in the bottom corner and the Tristar Authentic card in the other.
Why it matters
Moose played his college ball at Syracuse, where he was All-Big East and an All-American in 1988, then spent his whole career in Dallas from 1989 to 1999. He made two Pro Bowls, won three Super Bowls with the '90s Cowboys, and took home the Ed Block Courage Award in 1992. Most of all, he was the lead blocker for Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher. Fullbacks don't get many headlines, but every Cowboys fan from that era knows the name. These days he's still on TV every Sunday as an NFL analyst for FOX.
Authentication
Tristar is a big name in signed memorabilia and runs its own autograph signings. There's a Tristar hologram on the jersey, and its serial number can be checked at TRISTARAuthentic.com. Per Tristar, peeling the sticker off voids it, so it stays right where it is.
Photos are my own, cleaned up for the site.
